We also got a taste of some of the new monsters as well... the Fury(s), those floating dudes that are elementalists, those big warrior finger things that you don't want to get too close too... (I'm terrible with names...)

This was, in addition to being the holiday event, a taste test of Nightfall. Maybe we need to get used to the idea of four man groupings against level 24-28s in some areas. Maybe Finger of Chaos is about to become the Middle Finger of Chaos and start effecting Mesmers, Eles and Rits as well as the soon to be introduced classes as well.

ANet is very, very good at using Guild Wars to promote the chapters within (which I have no problem with and enjoy). This does indeed seem to come under their modus operandi.

Thank you for your explaination, Gaile...however I wish that it came a day earlier, instead of having to stay up until 3:45 EDT both days, and still going to bed both days wondering if I had missed something, or if I should stay up later. It's nice to know, however, at least for the future, that an event will not have a finale ending at 3 AM here.

Feedback on the event is welcome in this forum. We would appreciate hearing your thoughts on all aspects. Please remember that constructive feedback is always more likely to be read and attended to than rants.

For instance, would you prefer we have a single one-time-only finale? Or do you like the final day sort of ending?

Did you enjoy the games? Do you have suggestions for more?

Were you able to complete the Captain missions?

Did you score a lot of loot from the present drops?

(Was anyone in a district that lost the competition? I'm curious!)

As you can tell, we do read these forums, and we provably act on your feedback, so feel free to share that with us!

Now that it's explained, I do appreciate it. Having an all-day finale was an excellent idea, just wish it would have been explained a little clearer. =\ All in all, it WAS a lot of fun. Too bad the pvp dodgeball isn't sticking around. Hopefully A-Net will have this in the future now, since it was a big hit.

I enjoyed each and every one of the games..I sat addicted to all of them at one point. o_O

The captain missions were a little tough, but could be done. I completed a few, one with an ele tank! He rocked lol. The reward was a little..disappointing, but I loved the challenge and did it more than once.

Lots of loot, hurray! I loved the present drop, a little chance for EVERYONE to get something.

Gaile?! No confirmation or denial if we got a tidbit of Nightfall during this event?

You make me sad.

Those torment claws were scary the first time you encounter them..."HEY a cute new little tree thing" BAM yer dead.

There are Furies there? No... I'd swear I saw a couple things in total that were new, not just the Torments.

The grasps definitely aren't new (except for those "lesser grasps"), and 'The Fury' (the big ELE NPC who appears during the event) is just an enlarged banished dream rider or something like that. Torment Claws are the only thing I saw that were new.

I agree

The above quote from the guild wars site is the one that confused many people.

Gaile, I know your job is to put a positive spin on what happens with GW but, as I stated earlier in this thread, there are many instances of confusion in the wording that comes from Guild Wars/Anet .

I have contacted the support team several times to mention npc instructions I ( and others) have felt were confusing and/or misleading. I am sorry to say every time one of these contacts was even replied to I was told “ Just go to guildwiki.com they will tell you what to do”. I am disappointed that instead of addressing a possible confusing wording of in-game instructions the assumption seems to be that I (and others) am just confused and/or incapable of “CLEARLY” understanding what was meant and therefore should just go to a site that will hold my hand and walk me through the game. You are doing the same thing here in your reply.

The above quote clearly says “conclusion” MANY people felt it was referring to a special end festival event.
I know it is impossible to spell everything out for everyone but these sorts of things could clearly be handled better.

Hind site is 20/20 as they say. However, I and MANY people in-game were confused. A simple, clearer description could have prevented the whole misunderstanding.

Still, the fury itself was new... the introduction of them as a repeating monster could liven things up... also I don't recall an elementalist version of the floating ghoul looking things. Plenty of mesmer ones in my memory, but not the elementalist ones.

Of course, I haven't been back there since Factions, so memory may be failing me now...

Most of this has probably been said already in some post or several.

Most of the complaints and confusion from players is nothing of anet's fault, really.

I play on US servers so this was frequently heard. I commented on this before; the US schooling system is apparently at fault here. Besides that, whatever happened to thinking for yourself? STFW, wikipedia and Google FTW people!

A suprise true canthans won't want to miss
How obvious is this?! True canthans are loyal citizens of the empire. Loyal citizens love their emperor. People who love the emperor wouldn't want to miss a visit from their emperor. Ergo: true canthans got a nice surprise visit from their emperor.
Seriously, it's not that hard... Their's no marketing spin/hype involved. That piece of text was supposed to be "in-game" as a roleplayer would call it.

err, me so confused, *giggle*
'nother 10 year old, who has not learned to think for themselves yet, or perhaps worse: someone who's supposed to be an adolescent/adult and still hasn't learned this...

I'm really sorry: there simply is no accounting for stupidity.
It's been said: If we removed all warning labels, the problem would sort itself.

One last thing, on the event:
You thought this...
You figured such...
You were counting on...

Well, guess what: You were wrong, stop blaming A.Net and admit it! You'll be a bigger person for it.

I was there for the anticipated finale of the finale of the finale. I'll compare my feelings of the "let down" with a game of baseball. It was like watching 8 2/3 innings of watching my team score 20 runs, and the last batter, with bases loaded flies out to deep right field. Games can't end with grand slams, when you're up by 20 runs already. You can't meet everyone's expectations, when what you've down was great. I think most people were expecting some chapter 3 hints, or reshaping of the land like was done with Tombs months ago. I'm just happy I was able to play every day of the festival (except the 3rd), and feel bad for those that missed out.

Were you able to complete the Captain missions?
Unfortunately, I was not able to. I think there were 6 or 7 of the Rujiyo missions, and each one I hear took about an hour to beat. I was too busy with doing all the other stuff.

Next time please provide some unique incentive to those beating them all (not just more Orbs). Maybe give us an elite version of the event helm for completing this task. Also, make the NPC come around earlier or give us some information about it before he comes. When Rujiyo came around halfway through the event without warning, it kinda threw me a curveball on my plans and goals I made for myself early in the event.
